For some larger jobs, such as most paint jobs, we’ll give an overall price rather than charging hourly to give us a little more flexibility with time. Once we get the details on what you need we'll get back to you with a price estimate. It’s important to us to practice pricing transparency and check in around cost with our clients so that you don’t get surprised by at the end of the service by a bill you can’t afford.
Client Testimonials:

| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What’s the process for booking you? | You can start by filling out this form. Within 2-5 days we’ll reach out to you with any questions we have (or to refer you to someone else if we can’t help), and once we have the information we need we will give you an estimate of how much we think it will cost. If you’re good with that number, we will schedule a date for your service! |
| I want to book you but I have a really limited budget. How do you handle that? | It depends on the type of service! Sometimes instead of planning to complete a job we can come help for a set number of hours to be an extra pair (or two) of hands but might mean that you’d finish without us. This can be especially useful for services like moves. We can also break a larger job/ to-do list into smaller chunks to spread the cost out over time. |
| Can I be involved / help while you work? | Absolutely! We love a body double moment or folks who want to be hands on and help with projects. And totally fine if you choose to leave it completely up to us- we got it! |
| What’s your moving setup? | We have a pickup truck and a van so we can move some items depending on the amount and distance. We recommend clients book U-Hauls and hire us as the loaders/unloaders as needed, although in some instances we can book a U-Haul and drive it for you. |
| How can we pay you? | Right now we accept mostly cash and Venmo, but we can also take PayPal, cards, and even checks if needed! |
| Should I tip you? | That’s up to you! Our pricing model is not predicated upon receiving tips, but we won’t ever say no to extra money. So definitely tip if you feel so inclined, but we won’t hold it against you if you don’t. We find that currently probably half of our clients tip, and most of our recurring clients tip sometimes but not always. |
| What are your pronouns? | We both use exclusively they/them/theirs pronouns! |
| Are you hiring? | Nope! Being such a new business we are trying to make sure we have a good business model and that the market in Richmond can support us before bringing anyone else in on a permanent basis. We occasionally have people that we know and trust help out with jobs when we need an extra set of hands, but we aren’t actively looking for any additional help. |

Lucid (they/them) dreamed of a job digging holes when they were a kid, but then grew up to go to college and establish a career in nonprofit communications. Now they are honoring that child's dream by getting down in the dirt (and the paint and the moving boxes) with Home Service Butches while continuing to work part-time as the Communications & Narrative Change Manager at the National Youth Justice Network. They have always worked odd jobs for extra income, and they're excited to formalize that through HSB and focus on their queer community (and friendly straights) in these troubled times. In their free time Lucid organizes with various political groups, writes, hikes long distances, and works on training their temperamental pit bull.

Klaus (they/them) has been working in community building projects for the past decade and has been daydreaming of being a professional butch for the past few years. They dream of a world beyond capitalism + colonization and are honing the skills to be as resourced as possible when that time comes, so HSB is a perfect place to learn, practice, and show up for their queer siblings. In their downtime, you can find them making stained glass, hanging out with their cat and squishmallows, and sitting in a park with a book. Their other project is Enrich Compost for the dirt lovers and enviro babes.
